The
Least of These...
By Chad Taylor
Now a young man sits in a jail cell,
no longer is his heart compelled,
So he lays his head down tonight,
Praying that he'll live to see the morning light...
A little girl sits on a corner street,
shivering from the cold and beggin' for something to eat...
She doesn't know where her daddy's gone,
she just lays her head down and waits for the dawn...
A little baby is sleeping in a crib alone,
Crying for some milk because mamas not home...
There's a needle on the counter where the bottle should be,
but no one's around to hear this baby's plea...
There's an old man sleeping on a bench
tonight,
for the bottle he lost his kids and wife...
He only prays that someone will try to understand,
reach out and give a helping hand...
Jesus said to help the least of these,
To bing up their hearts and set the captives free...
The prisoner and the runaway,
We've got to reach out and show them the Way!
When I was cold you put shoes on my feet,
when I was hungry you gave something to eat...
When I was desperate, forgotten, and alone,
You opened up your hearts and you opened up your home...
When you do it to the least of these,
You have really done it unto Me... (Matthew 25:31-46)
